Little bit of info on me, carnations, and a good night's sleep
Well, perhaps I should describe myself. I am an "old fart" at times, but in reality, I am 36 years old, a member of the US military working in central Texas. I love to read, play online, work on my computer (or actually until I get back my laptop, my wife's computer). I am an active wrestling fan now for over 23 years. I don't persay have a favorite wrestler, but if I had to choose someone, it would be Ric Flair, since he has been around the longest in my "wrestling circle". Another pair of strong candidates for my favorite wrestler would be New Midwest Wrestling's Cherry Malone and her main man Spotlight Spencer Powers for the simple fact they are living out their dream in the ring. I am also living out my wrestling dream, but in a different way via the Extreme Universal Wrestling Corporation, or EUWC for short. If you like to be a part of the fantasy experience, check out the EUWC at their website. Just don't cross the Southwestern ICON, Texas Lightning.I am happily married now for almost 5 and a half years to my wonderful wife Stephanie, who I got even for her little cheesecake episode yesterday. I got back from physical training today and got online at FTD.com and ordered for her a bouquet of carnations. I ordered it at 7:30 and it was delivered surprisingly to my house in just over two hours. It took another 30 minutes for Steph to get them. She was sleeping in when they came by and it was delivered to our next door neighbor. Trying to completely catch Stephanie by surprise, I got the call about the delivery, so I called her to wake her up and out of bed. By the time it took Stephanie to get dressed and go next door, the neighbor had ran off to do laundry. As I tried to tell Steph she needed to pick up a delivery next door, and not give away what it was, the neighbor showed up and got the bouquet for Stephanie, who says she was not expecting it at all and it really made it her day.
She "cheesecaked" me yesterday, today I "carnationed" her.
Work was normal. Good. Will explain my work another rambling day. Talking to my unit commander about some fears ahead helped a lot to get through the day.
Now, tonight I hope to get one good night's sleep. I haven't had one in a while since we got our new bed. Adjusting to it is taking longer than expected...and the 4:30 am wakeups don't help with that process at all. Maybe it will be better tonight. It is a really nice and inexpensive bed from Wal-mart at just over $250, but a few more nights might be needed to finally find a comfort level with it.
Let's just see.

Nephews, Wives and Cheesecake

This is one of those days each year we all dread as adults. The first day of school. Should we rejoice that the summer is over....should we be upset that they are going to be out of our sight 8 hours a day while in school...the possiblites are endless on how we should be feeling.
Today, I feel empty....and I am not alone. For the past two and a half years, myself and my wife, Stephanie (on the picture of the day here) have been pretty much the part time surrogate mom and dad to our two nephews, Connor and Samuel, ages 4 and 6 now. Today would have been Connor's first day of school in pre-k, and Samuel would be starting first grade. If Connor would have been spending the school year unable to go to pre-k, which he was in fact ineligible due to his mother making more the income threshold set up by the school district, I would be coming each day from my daily physical workout time to Connor watching Dora the Explorer followed by Blue Clues and preceded by Spongebob Squarepants. It was such the norm for the two years prior to today when Samuel would go off to school and we would hear this. Connor would ask for two pieces of toast and cereal, spill half of his cereal and milk on the table, eat two bites out of the bread and say he was full.
Today, it's quiet. Not because they are both in school nearby here, but likely to start the school year with their grandmother, and why you ask? That is a story in itself I will save for another rambling. I didn't realize as much as I hated hearing the same thing every morning, Monday thru Friday, every week for 9 months, how much I missed it... It took a disagreement with my wife to make me see that emptiness I am feeling (and still am feeling). I hope my mother-in-law enjoys her grandchildren being under her roof, because it is causing me and my wife great unrest and strife. As much as I love her, damn her...and damn the children's mother.
Work was its normal. Not too bad, not too painful....directing mail for up to 800 people is a "never the same" job, because no two days are the same.
Got home and Steph and I went out to get some dinner. As we finished up, Stephanie asked if I was going to have some desert. I had been craving cheesecake all day, and was looking forward to it. Then Stephanie told me that she ate half the cheesecake last night. 12 pieces total, she had eaten six. Oh well. She loves her cheesecake. Then we got home and she told me that she ate those six just last night. She had eaten more today. I was disappointed because we usually share everything. She told me to look and see what was left. I opened the fridge after much pleading to just tell me how much was left and she had only eaten one piece since last night. There were nine pieces left.
Ashton Kutcher may "punk" people...but I been "cheesecaked" by the woman I love.
Moral: Feel empty about what you miss, but there is always room for desert.

Pets, Wrestling, and the next day

Sometimes, the best things about pets are not that easy to locate or find. But when you get a good little pet to settle down and act so innocent you have no other choice but to love them, you just have to let it be and smile about it.
Take for example my 4 month old kitten "Spice" on the picture here. He has been giving me and my wife grief all weekend with his claws into our legs and couch and other fragile things. Then we clipped his claws and as soon as we finished, here he is, sleeping away. Come 1 am tonight, he won't sleep, he will be looking for a fight with one of our other three cats or be wanting in our room to suck on one of our necks...most likely my wife's.
What I think right now of wrestling? Depends on which promotion. The WWE, I know they need to stock up on "whore" blood for Adam Copeland aka Edge. He will need a blood transfusion come in 7 days after his former best friend and confidant Matt Hardy gets his hands on him. Some people may think it is all script (and I don't believe one bit of it on Matt's end is script), but when you screw your best friend's girl, you screw your life. Just something to think about, Adam....just make sure your health insurance is current and complete for a hospital trip will be in your future.
Now, as far as New Midwest Wrestling in Springfield, Illnois, (www.newmidwest.com), I am very glad to see that Cherry Malone is wrestling again, and according to one of the fans there, she looked really good...not just in the ring. As one of her few fans, I am glad to see she is back in the ring, that her man Spotlight Spencer Powers is winning, and that they do make a pretty good team. In the same promotion, Benz turned on his partner Tom Arson and cost the team the match. Benz, see above about Adam. You are going to pay and pay Arson's way.....PAIN!!!
Tomorrow, I go back to work and even though we have been told we are starting 3 hours later than usual due to the first day of public school around here, I will still go in at normal time, just with a different plan than usual. Last week's inspection is still on my mind and there are quite a few that still need to find out. They were hoping for the best and this time, they got it. I have to just make sure that the other six who contributed to it are not forgotten and that they are appreciated.
Thought for the day: "Two and two may equal four, and in some universes equal three or five, but it still makes lousy tuna fish."
